Below is a full list of suggested things to bring. Not everything on this list is a necessary item. We encourage students to think about how they live now, and how much they really need to feel at home. Remember your student’s on-campus room may be smaller than his/her room at home, and not every item may fit. Many of the larger items may be things that could be shared with a roommate. Your student should have received their roommate assignments by now – encourage your student to contact their roommate and see if there are things they can bring to share.
Keep in mind that students will be sharing bathrooms and laundry facilities with other students.
You can get this stuff once you’re on campus, but it can sometimes be cheaper to buy it during the back-to-school sales of off-campus stores.
Listed here are a few items that students may not have in residence hall rooms. If you are in doubt about an item your student would like to bring, call the Residential Life Office at 253-535-7200.
The residence halls are a place where students can draw connections between what’s happening in the classroom and what’s happening in their lives. Residential Life makes every attempt to provide residents with the needed resources to live in a healthy and enjoyable community. These resources range from the assistance of trained professional and student staff members, to programs and services that help students to live, grow and learn in a residential community.
Living on campus extends a student’s education beyond the classroom. PLU residence halls offer important opportunities for growth, community engagement and immersion in campus life.
Soon students will be arriving for Fall Semester here at PLU. Please check our Residential Life Year at A Glance to see scheduled university holidays as well as dates and times for scheduled arrivals and departures.
All of the residence halls include the following:
