South Hall is an apartment-style complex, located on the south edge of campus. It has a view of the Olympic Mountains to the west and Mount Rainier to the east. South Hall provides many amenities such as full kitchens in all apartments, close proximity to campus buildings and activities, WiFi available throughout the building, and a centralized laundry room. All South Hall apartments are furnished with dining and living room furniture and each bedroom includes a bed, desk with chair, dresser, shelves, mirror, and closet.
A variety of apartments and floor plans are available, including studios, two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom townhouses, four-bedroom apartments and a five-bedroom townhouse. If you would like more information on the different apartment options you can find more details here. Unlike a standard lease that is billed monthly, students receive only one “bill” per semester which includes electricity, water, wireless internet, garbage, and cable with over 100 channels (including HD). Since PLU is the landlord, this “bill” is included on the student’s statement of account along with any other university charges and is a part of whatever payment plan a student has with the university.
Besides providing students a safe and secure environment with card access only entries and regular Campus Safety patrols South Hall offers many community areas that support the independent lifestyle of upper classmen. South Hall’s main lounge has a large flat screen TV with lots of seating for formal and informal gatherings. This lounge opens onto a courtyard that is the site of the annual South Hall ice cream social and other festive hall events. Smaller lounges, study rooms, and an exercise room for use by South Hall residents are all available as well. This hall is a great option for students who want the convenience of living on campus but would like the option of apartment style living. Residents have the flexibility to share an apartment with roommates of the same or different gender, and those 21 years of age or older may possess and/or consume alcohol in their apartment.
In order to be eligible for living in South Hall, one of the following must be met and the student must be in good standing with University Student Conduct.
South Hall Applications will be available on the Residential Life website in mid-January and will be due 8:00am (PST) on Wednesday, February 20th.
