For academic support, two of the best resources for students are the Writing Center and the Academic Assistance Center. The Writing Center is located on the second floor of the library and students may bring in an assignment, an idea, or a draft to the center and seek a one-on-one session with a trained peer writing consultant. They offer feedback on papers composed for any academic discipline, as well as help with resumes, job application letters, and graduate school applications. The Academic Assistance Center is located on the first floor of the library and offers one-on-one or group tutoring sessions. Students can brainstorm study strategies, join a foreign language conversation group, or just stop by for free flashcards.
Another way to ease the anxiety of finals week is to be aware of the steps for moving out of the Residence Halls. The full checkout process for South and Kreidler Halls can be found here. The checkout process for ALL other halls can be found here. Students must check out of their room 24 hours after their last final or by 6:00pm on Friday, May 24, 2013, whichever comes first. South Hall residents must depart by 6:00pm on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Resident and Community Assistants will host wing meetings in mid-May to review the checkout deadlines and procedures, so this is a great time for your student to get all of their questions answered and plan their checkout time. Please encourage your student to attend their wing meeting.
If your student hasn’t reserved their room on campus for next year have them email Residential Life at firstname.lastname@example.org for availability and application information.
