October 12 – Kiss, me Kate – Opening Gala

Eastvold Auditorium – Karen Hille Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Center
Combine Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew with Porter’s music and lyrics to get Kiss Me, Kate, a fun, sophisticated musical. This play-within-a-play shows each cast member’s on-stage life becoming complicated by events happening offstage. Musical numbers include Why Can’t You Behave, So In Love Am I, Wunderbar, and Brush Up Your Shakespeare. Winner of five Tony Awards, it was originally produced in 1948 and has long been considered one of Broadway’s treasures.

October 25-27 – Night of the Musical Theatre

October 9 – Open Model Session
6:00pm – 8:00pm
Drawing Studio (126) of Ingram Hall
Open Drawing Sessions with a live model, sponsored by the Department of Art at Pacific Lutheran University, will take place on select Wednesday evenings. All students and community members interested in drawing from a live model are welcome to attend. The evening model session is a great opportunity to develop your interests and talent in drawing. This is a non-classroom situation (no formal instruction will be provided), so bring the drawing tools of your choice and enjoy the relaxed studio atmosphere or work on your portfolio.

October 16 – Paintings by David Roholt – Opening Reception
5:00pm - 7:30pm
The University Gallery in Ingram Hall
In his painting, David Roholt transforms the familiar. The work balances the abstract and the representational, creating dimension through contrasting color and surface texture. Free, refreshments will be provided.
