The PLU Health Center continues its ongoing commitment to provide a convenient, confidential, and caring environment. We offer a wide-range of services, many of which are free or at a greatly reduced cost. The Health Center does not charge a fee for office visits, this applies to any PLU student regardless of health insurance coverage. Same-day appointments are usually available, and can be requested by phone or email.
The Health Center’s staff includes three experienced nurse practitioners and a health educator, who are uniquely qualified in providing high-quality care to college students. This includes managing acute illnesses like colds, sore throats, and injuries, as well as care for chronic conditions like asthma and depression.
The Health Center is firmly committed to preventive services. These include consultations and immunizations for students planning to study abroad, routine immunizations, general wellness examinations for men and women, routine gynecological examinations, and reduced-cost contraceptives. Many of these services are provided free of charge to all students.
We maintain an in-house pharmacy of commonly used prescription and over-the-counter medications, which are available at a greatly reduced cost. We also offer on-site laboratory services, including rapid strep tests, urinalysis, and blood tests.
Students requiring medical examinations for study abroad, employment, school, or other administrative purposes may avail themselves of the Health Center’s significantly discounted fee.
Students also have the opportunity to meet with a health educator to discuss a wide range of topics, such as nutrition, smoking cessation, and sexual health. In addition to one-on-one consultations, Health Center staff provides health education programs to student groups and residence halls.
The Health Center is an integral part of PLU’s supportive campus environment. We work closely with the Counseling Center, athletics, Residential Life, the Diversity Center, and other offices to ensure that students have access to the wide array of support services that the university offers. We also coordinate with medical specialists, physical therapists, and hospitals for students requiring referrals to off-campus resources.
The Health Center is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday during the academic year, and on a reduced schedule during the summer. We are closed from 12:00 to 1:00 pm daily for lunch. The Health Center can be reached by calling 253-535-7337, or by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
