9:00 – 11:00am
Chris Knutzen East, UC
"In Her Shoes" is an interactive event that allows participants to temporarily step into the shoes of a victim of intimate partner violence. Participants will form groups and each group will take on the identity of a victim - facing the choices real-life survivors face and making decisions (i.e. to report the incident or tell a friend). By interacting with the many systems a survivor encounters - law enforcement, health care, child protection services, family, friends, domestic violence shelter, etc - participants gain a true understanding of the barriers faced by victims of domestic violence. This event helps participants answer the question, why doesn’t she just leave?
