This fall, begins the first academic year under the leadership of PLU's 13th president, Thomas W. Krise. Throughout the month there will be plenty of opportunities to meet and learn more about President Krise and his wife Patricia Krise.

7 p.m., Scandinavian Cultural Center: Lutheran Studies Conference Keynote Speaker – "New Wineskins: The Lutheran Contribution," Larry Rasmussen Ph.D., Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics, Union Theological Seminary, New York
Hunger in Action Day: Students, staff and faculty of the PLU Community will participate in hunger-relief efforts ranging from farms and distribution centers to food banks and meals sites.
8 p.m., Lagerquist Concert Hall: The Department of Music and The School of Arts and Communication honor the inauguration of President Krise in a special concert featuring 31 world-class music faculty. Performances will feature members of the voice and keyboard faculty, instrumental colleagues, and all of the faculty resident ensembles: Regency String Quartet, Camas Wind Quintet, Lyric Brass Quintet, and Regency Jazz Ensemble. Repertoire will include selections from Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti, J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 29, Poulenc's Sextet for Piano and Wind Quintet, Debussy's String Quartet, and other outstanding works.
