Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
In accordance with the family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of
1974, popularly known as the "Buckley Amendment" and carrying
the acronym "FERPA," Pacific Lutheran University has adopted
a policy to protect the privacy of education records. This act also
establishes the rights of parents and currently enrolled, eligible students
to inspect and review their education records; and provides guidelines
for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal
and formal hearings. Parents and currently enrolled, eligible students
will be notified of their FERPA rights annually by publication in the
Student Handbook. Interested parties may review the policy in the Office
for Student Life, Hauge Administration Building, Room 105.
