Department of Center for Public Service

Community Partnerships

The Center for Public Service connects the campus with many community organizations in partnerships to serve the community’s needs, to educate students about issues communities face, and to help students become increasingly aware of their own role in the promotion of social justice.

Featured Partners

Emergency Food Network: The Emergency Food Network (EFN) has been working since 1982 "to provide a reliable food supply so that no person in Pierce County goes hungry." Each month in Pierce County, more than 140,000 people seek emergency food assistance. EFN provides food and other essentials at no cost to 74 food banks, hot meal sites and shelters for distribution to low-income families and individuals.  PLU students volunteer at the Distribution Center, the Cannery Project and the Mother Earth Farm, as well as participate in the annual Hunger Walk.

For other community partners see future “Featured Partners” and check the All Opportunities page of the Volunteer Center’s website.
