Kristin Plaehn

Biography:

Kristin Plaehn is in her fourth year as registrar at PLU. She has overall responsibility for the Office of the Registrar and serves on a variety of committees dealing with educational policy and student issues. She also teaches in the First Year Experience Program (WRIT 101) and in the Department of Political Science. Away from the office, Kris enjoys working out and watching her favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs.

Kevin Berg

Evaluations Administrator

Biography:

Kevin is a Tacoma native that joined the PLU Registrar's Office in 2005. His main responsibilities at PLU include transfer student evaluations and CAPP system development and maintenance. Kevin is a member of the Data Administration Task Force, and has participated in both Charting Your Course and the PLU Leadership Seminar. His academic interests include international business, management, and foreign languages. In his free time, he enjoys many outdoor activities such as biking, climbing, soccer, golf, and adventuring, as well as some indoor ones like watching sports and reading.

Beth Crippen

Evaluations Administrator

Biography:

Beth previously worked for six years as the certification officer in the School of Education and Movement Studies maintaining program files for all students earning a Washington State teaching certificate. As an Evaluations Administrator, she is responsible for evaluating credits of students presently attending and applying to PLU. She may also evaluate CLEP, International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, international credits, and transfer credits taken by current PLU students. Beth performs progress checks of general education program elements (GenEd) and provides guidance about academic options and confirms progress toward completion of general education program elements. Other duties include assisting in the academic review of students who have achieved junior status/applied for graduation, determining the course equivalencies between PLU and other institutions, and maintaining the exception to academic requirements database.

Susan J.F. Johnson

Summer Sessions Coordinator

Biography:

sUSAn, born in Washington D.C. and raised in Northern Virginia, joined PLU in July 2004 as the Summer Sessions Coordinator. Other duties include responsibility for the PLU catalog, course maintenance in the banner system, and review of graduate theses for compliance with APA or MLA style guidelines. sUSAn has walked three half-marathons (Seattle and Tacoma) and loves the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners. Her first love is the Washington Redskins. sUSAn participates in several organizations to help others in the area of suicide prevention.

Joann Nelson

Records Coordinator

Biography:

Joann Nelson has been at PLU since 1998. As Records Coordinator, she is the person to contact about registration problems, questions about transcripts, independent study cards, credit by exam, study abroad grades, incomplete contracts, and grades. Before coming to PLU she worked for the State of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Kelly Gaspar Poth

Biography:

Kelly joined the Office of the Registrar in 2005. As the administrator in charge of graduation, she is the person to contact regarding commencement and degree completion. Prior to joining the PLU team, she worked in marketing for Six Flags Theme Parks. When away from the office, Kelly enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and son as well as baking and weekend escapes across the mountains to sunny Eastern Washington.

Sarah Sanders

Scheduling Coordinator

Biography:

Sarah joined the Registrar's Office as Scheduling Coordinator in 2008. As Scheduling Coordinator, Sarah handles scheduling and maintenance of academic rooms, as well as management of the waitlist, publication of the semestral Class Schedule, and maintenance and publication of the transfer credit equivalency guides. In the future, Sarah would like to earn her Ph.D. in Conflict Management/Diplomacy and work in inter-faith conflict.
