Something for Everyone

Resident Assistants/Community Assistants (RAs/CAs)

Resident Assistants/Community Assistants are student leaders who live in the residence halls.  They serve as peer resources to all on campus students.  Their main role on campus is to build community by providing opportunities for you to interact with your floormates and learn about the world around you.  Whether it is helping you find a resource on campus, hanging out in the halls, or need someone to talk to, the Resident Assistants/Community Assistants are here to help!

The RA/CA Hiring Process occurs in November for mid year hires and March for academic year hires so watch for the advertising!

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

RHA is a visible and active organization that enhances the resident experience through educational, social, and spiritual programs that encourage student engagement and learning..  RHA also serves as a representative voice for resident students.  In addition, RHA promotes resident student leadership development through their support to the Residence Hall Councils.

Keep an eye out for some of their big events such as SoundOff, Songfest, PLU Idol, and Gender Exploration Week.

Residence Hall Councils (RHCs)

RHCS are an integral part of the residential experience at PLU.  RHCs are made up of student leaders who live in the halls and want to take a leadership role in their community.  They provide social and educational programs designed to have students get to know one another and build community in the halls.  The RHCs play a vital role in campus wide events such as Welcome Weekend and Homecoming.  Each RHC hosts traditional hall events that are open to all PLU students so be on the lookout for those exciting events!

Residence Hall Front Desk Workers

Another opportunity to be involved (and make some money) is to be a Residence Hall Front Desk Worker.  These student leaders provide a welcome reception for residents and guests, security of the building, and other amenities for the residents to increase the quality of their lives outside of the classroom.  Whether it is an emergency or otherwise, the desk can be the heartbeat of the hall, and the desk worker must often be ‘in the know’ in order to pass on pertinent information to the staff.  Hiring for these positions occur year round.

Other Campus Opportunities

Are you interested in joining Student Government or working with a club or student organization.  ASPLU elects positions in the spring and fall semesters, and is always looking for students to be involved.  The Student Involvement and Leaderhip Office (SIL) coordinates a variety of student clubs (such as the Knitting Club) and organizations (such as the College Democrats).  SIL is also coordinates the University Orientation program and hires Orientation Guides each spring semester.
