Dan Hammerquist, Resident Director for Tingelstad Hall: “I think the RD position at PLU is unique because the RD team is highly collaborative, and each RD has the opportunity to work on projects and initiatives they are passionate about.  In addition, RDs at PLU are given a high level of responsibility in areas such as student staff training and leadership development, student staff selection, living learning communities, and assessment."

Application Procedure:

  • Submit appplication, cover letter, resume and a list of three references to Jes Takla, Director of Residential Programs
  • Complete online application through PLU Human Resources

Resident Director for Foss & Pflueger Halls

  • Supervises 16 Resident Assistants (RAs)

  • Foss is home to the First in the Family residential learning community focusing on support for first generation students

  • Both Foss and Pflueger have First Year and New Transfer and Continuing Student Wings

  • Both halls are located on lower campus near: Parking Facilities - including first year and gated lots, Tahoma Market & Cafe, the Names Fitness Gym, Olson Fieldhouse, Rieke Science Center, Mary Baker Russell Music Center, Foss Field, Basketball Courts, Sand Volleyball Pit, Tennis Courts, Swimming Pool, Pflueger Fire Pit

  • RD office is located in Foss Hall; RD apartment is located in Pflueger Hall

Resident Director for South and Kriedler Halls

  • Supervises a staff of 6 Community Assistants (CAs).

  • Both halls open only to upper division students (20+ years of age and/or junior status)

  • Alcohol allowed in both buildings if residents are 21+ and have completed online education module (these are the only two halls on-campus that allow alcohol)

  • Kreidler is single rooms only and is located on upper campus

  • South has suite style double and quad apartments, studio apartments, and options for married student housing and is located on lower/south campus

  • Kreidler Community is a new community this year focusing on collaboration with Student Involvement and Leadership to provide resources for commuter, veteran, transfer, and non-traditional students

  • Both RD office and apartment are located in South Hall
