South
Hall opens its doors
South Hall, PLU’s newest campus residence,
opened its doors to students on August 31. The facility offers
a variety of living arrangements, including studio, two- and four-bedroom
apartments, two-bedroom townhouses, one-bed-room lofts and one
five-bedroom townhouse.
South Hall is geared toward older
students who would like the convenience of a campus residence,
but are interested in the privacy and independence of an apartment
with separate kitchen and bathroom facilities. All residents are
at least 20 years of age or have junior standing, and married
students are able to apply for residence in the one-bedroom loft
apartments.
South Hall’s success in serving this
category of students is apparent in the newest figures for on-campus
residents at PLU; the percentage of students living in university
housing rose this year to 45 percent, up from 41 percent in 1999-2000.
