Delta Rho Gammas
In 1929, President Tingelstad gave permission to name the Day
Room Girls (the women who did not live on campus but commuted
to PLU) the Delta Rho Gammas, if they didn't refer to themselves
as sorority girls. Ida Hinderlie was the first president. Ruth
Gausch and Mildred Gault have been good about getting this group
together for lunch once each month. Pictured here are a few of
the original PLU Delta Rho Gammas: Angela, Mildred, Ruth, Louise,
Ruth and Ida.

Aloha!
Lutes gather together all across America! Angela Jantz '00, Tim
Ho '96 and Julie Johnston '99 got together to share traditional
Hawaiian appetizers known as "pupus" at the Royal Hawaiian
Hotel on the beach of Waikiki.

GO LUTES!
California alumni, parents and friends turned out in great numbers
to cheer for the PLU football team at the PLU-Azuza Pacific football
game in September. These Lutes were hosted by Alumni Board members
Dave Johnson '74 and Al Dungan ' 59 (who was in town visiting
from Minneapolis). Dave and Al, put up a tent and welcomed fellow
Lutes by handing out Go Lutes! signs and pins! PLU may have lost
that game, but made NCAA-III playoffs for the fourth consecutive
year.

Fall Fun!
Annie (Newton) Thompson '90, Linda Trendler '90, Sue Ann (Garrison)
Brydson '90 gathered at the home of Rod '90 and Stacy (Bryan)
Bigelow '93 to carve pumpkins with the "kids", or so
they said. Do you see any "kids" in this picture?

On the left side of the table are Ray Dewey (who along
with his wife Elizabeth seated across the table, are proud
parents of Heather '01), Parents Council members Mary and
Tom Renne (proud parents of Julie '01 and Mark '05) and Parents
Council co-chair Bill Buck (who along with his wife Anne are
the proud parents of Andrew '01 and Abby '03). |
Proud Parent Day
Several hundred parents gathered on Saturday, November 10 to celebrate
Proud Parent Day at PLU. Coach Frosty Westering kicked off the
day with a LUTE Welcome! Later, PLU parents and students had the
opportunity to hear from Parents Council Co-Chair Bill Buck, ASPLU
President Tim Vialpando '02 and PLU President Loren Anderson.
Following breakfast, and a mad dash to the PLU Bookstore, the
crowd of Lutes joined other PLU alumni, parents, students and
friends at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup for the football contest
between PLU and cross-town rivals UPS. Many parents came for the
weekend and by Sunday evening had also attended University Congregation,
the Parents Council meeting and/or had visited other local establishments.
We look forward to welcoming the family members of ours students
back to campus for Family Weekend, March 1-3.
