| Football
reunion highlights festivities
We invite all football Gladiators, Knights
and Lutes to mark Oct. 17-19 on your calendar and encourage you
to make plans to come home to PLU for Homecoming 2003: ATTAWAY!
In addition to the annual class reunions – this year celebrating
graduates of ’53, ’58, ’63, ’68, ’73,
’78, ’83, ’88, ’93, and ’98 –
we are excited to welcome all those involved in PLU football to
a special reunion celebrating the program’s 75 years.
We hope you will come to campus in October
to help honor head coaches, including Marv Tommervik, Marv Harshman
and Frosty Westering; teams such as the 1947 Pear Bowl team, three
NAIA and one NCAA national championship teams and many other people
and events in PLU’s rich football history.

New Head coach Forrest "Frosty" Westering greeted the
team in fall 1972. Westering shown here in a spoof of a breakfast
cereal, came to PLU after successfully coaching stints at Parson's
College (Iowa) and Lea College (Minnesota).

Legacy Lutes:
Children of grads carry on the PLU tradition
Fall is always an exciting time, as more than
850 new students arrive on campus. The Office of Alumni and Parent
Relations welcomes these Legacy Lutes—students who are children
of PLU alumni. We recognize these alumni parents for their continued
generational support and are thrilled to have them actively involved
with their alma mater.

New alumni directory
in the works for publication in 2005
In an effort to bring alumni from around the
globe together, the Office
of Alumni and Parent Relations is preparing for publication
the 2005 PLU Alumni Directory. Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company
will produce this edition.
Questionnaires asking for information will
soon be mailed. Please fill them out and return as soon as you receive
them. Scheduled for release in the winter of 2005, this Alumni Directory
will be the most up-to-date and complete reference of more than
30,000 Pacific Lutheran University grads ever compiled!
Previous editions of the directories have been
well received by those who are trying to reconnect with old friends
and colleagues.
