Student Involvement and Leadership

Pinnacle Society 2006

Pinnacle Society: Serving PLU and Beyond

The Pinnacle Society was established in 2002 as an honorary affiliation to celebrate graduates who have exhibited exceptional leadership and service enriching Pacific Lutheran University and the communities of greater Tacoma.  In keeping with the university's mission and vision, membership in the Pinnacle Society carries significant affinity with PLU and is an important statement of student leadership development during the undergraduate experience.

Who to Nominate?

We invite you to nominate distinguished upcoming graduates who have sustained involvement in the  co-curricular life of the university throughout their time at PLU. These students should be those whose leadership and commitment to this community has been evident to their peers as well as to the faculty and staff of PLU.

Finalists will be presented with a framed certificate of membership and a commemorative sash, to be worn at commencement.

How to nominate?

Your nominating narrative should highlight your nominee's activities, accomplishments and positions of leadership, both on campus and in the community.  A selection committee will review all nominations.  Finally, Dr. Laura Majovski will confirm those students recommended for Pinnacle Society membership and those who will receive the Student Life Ubuntu Award. Please click here for sample nomination letters.

Nominations are typically one page in length.  Submit your nominations by email as a word document attachment to sil@plu.edu. This year, a form has been provided for those who would like a more standardized approach to the nomination process.

Nomination letters must be received by Friday, March 16, 2012. Nominated students will be honored at the Celebration of Leadership on May 14, 2012.
