Questions? Visit the Campus Safety office, located on the ground floor of Harstad, or call 253-535-7441. You can also check out the website at www.plu.edu/campus-safety for more information.
PLU Emergency Text Messaging
PLU can alert students and employees to emergency events on campus by sending a text message to a personal cell phone. To participate in the text messaging program, you must sign up for, or renew, this service each academic year (September through August). Watch for an all-campus email in September with additional information and a web link to sign up. For questions on emergency response and notification, contact the Emergency Programs office at 253-538-6042.
Student Services Center
All students are required to submit Payment Contract and Address Confirmation forms by July 31.
Students who receive financial aid must have their Offer of Financial Aid either accepted on the Web or accepted by paper copy by the return date on the award.
Contact the Student Services Center at 253-535-7161 or 800-678-3243 with questions regarding Payment Contracts, Student Billing Statements and financial aid.
Health Insurance
Medical health insurance is required for all domestic full-time undergraduate students, and full-time and part-time international students. Students will be enrolled automatically and billed for the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan if they do not waive-out before Monday, September 21, 2009. Waive-out requires a comparable or better insurance plan.
The PLU plan provides important coverage for office visits, prescriptions, emergency treatment and hospitalization when used as a primary insurance plan, and will also serve as a secondary plan to cover unpaid amounts (deductibles, co-pays) from a primary insurance plan.
For more information, visit www.plu.edu/~fiop/student-health or call 253-535-7337.
Medical Withdrawal Insurance
Students are offered an optional insurance plan through Dewar Insurance Company that covers tuition, room and meals should the need arise to withdraw from PLU for medical reasons. For more information, access the Dewar Web site at www.collegerefund.com and select Pacific Lutheran University, or contact the Office of Student Life at 253-535-7191, slif@plu.edu.
Please note, the deadline for the application process is Tuesday, September 8.
Student with Disabilities
If you have a disability and wish to request accommodations, please contact Ruth Tweeten, Director of Disability Support Services, at least six weeks prior to the start of classes. Guidelines for required documentation and relevant policies are available at www.plu.edu/dss or call 253-535-7206 (TDD 253-536-5074) or Ruth Tweeten at tweeteri@plu.edu.
Athletes
If you are considering participating as a varsity or club sport athlete, please contact Gary Nicholson, PLU Head Athletic Trainer, at 253-535-7366.
New athletes are required to complete the new Athlete Physical form prior to attending tryouts, practice or competition. You may obtain the forms from the coach, athletic trainer, Athletics Office or the Athletics website at www.plu.edu/athletics and click on "Athletic Training.” The PLU Health Center offers physical exams for $50. Please call to schedule an appointment (253-535-7337).
Returning varsity athletes are required to have a returning athletes’ update in the training room with Gary Nicholson. Please be prepared to provide current information on illness and injury.
Escort / Shuttle Vehicle
Campus Safety employs the use of a Prius in its shuttle fleet in an effort to achieve sustainability on campus. It is available to students 24/7/365 around the neighborhoods of campus. Catch a ride this fall.
