Ringing of the Centennial Bell at Convocation marks the formal beginning of the new academic year.

Convocation

President Anderson invites new and continuing students, as well as family members, to join the entire university community at Convocation.  This annual tradition opens the academic year by welcoming our new students and faculty.  Dr. Anderson will share his vision for the 122nd academic year at PLU. 

Please note that during Convocation all classes are cancelled, and all campus offices are closed as well.  (See opening day schedule below.)

Campus Involvement and Job Fair

The Campus Involvement and Job Fair, and Campus Reception, follow Convocation on Foss Field (new this year!)  This is a chance to check out leadership, involvement and job opportunities on campus. 

It is also the traditional fall reunion for faculty, staff and students who can't wait to share their summer adventures with friends!

Classes begin Tuesday, September 6, 2011, with a special Convocation opening day schedule:

Classes begin....................................................8:00 a.m.

Classes adjourn & PLU offices close............8:30 a.m.

  • New students meet at Eastvold
  • Continuing students gather in Olson Auditorium

Opening Convocation (Olson Auditorium)......9:00 a.m.

Classes cancelled..............................................9:55 - 11:40 a.m.

Involvement & Job Fair (Foss Field).................10:15 a.m.

Classes resume & PLU offices re-open.........11:50 a.m.
