This annual tradition opens the academic year by welcoming our new students and faculty. Dr. Anderson will share his vision for the 122nd academic year at PLU.
The Daily Planner and Student Handbook is pre-printed with important PLU information. Residential students will receive their planners during move-in. New off-campus students will receive a planner during Orientation. Students can also pick one up at the Student Involvement & Leadership Office, Student Services Center, or the Student Life Office beginning September 6.

Student lounges are available in Hauge Rm. 223, Rieke Science Center Lobby, and in Hinderlie Hall (staffed with student workers). The University Center Commons (main floor) is also a great lounge area with close access to food and a microwave. Lockers are available in the lower level of the UC.
Students are offered an optional insurance plan through Dewar Insurance Company that covers tuition, room and meals should they need to withdraw from PLU for medical reasons. The deadline to submit the application is Tuesday, September 6. For coverage, cost and enrollment information, click here.
Medical health insurance is required for all domestic full-time undergraduate students, and full-time and part-time international students. Students will be enrolled automatically and billed for the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan if they do not waive-out before midnight on Monday, September 19, 2011. Click here for details.
PLU is a community in which every member has a vital role in creating and maintaining a positive educational environment. Each student is expected to be familiar with and uphold all university policies. Ignorance of policy is not an excuse for violating it!

Dining dollars are used to buy food items, tax free, at any campus restaurant and can be used to supplement a meal plan. Dining Dollars can be purchased throughout the academic year, carry over from term to term, and do not expire until the last day of the spring term.
Ecumenical chapel services begin Wednesday, September 7, at 10:30 a.m. in Lagerquist Concert Hall. All are invited. Chapels take place M-W-F all year.
The Student Employment Office works with current degree-seeking students to assist with their employment endeavors, as well as to help develop skills in resume writing, interview prep, job search strategies and career planning. Beginning in September, watch for a new student employment orientation program, required for all student employees.
Every year, there are a wide variety of events, lectures, and outings offered at PLU. This fall, as part of a program called Go.See.Do, we are encouraging students to try something new! Students who attend five of the selected events over the course of the semester will be eligible to win a $200 gift card towards spring semester book costs. Be on the lookout for promotion of Go.See.Do. events all semester!
