New and Returning Faces of Student Life 2014-2015
Each year, responsibilities and faces from the Division of Student Life change a bit. Below, we offer a visual of who we are: our leadership team and the departments they oversee.
We are happy to introduce Dr. Joanna Royce-Davis, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students. Joanna comes to us from the University of the Pacific, where she most recently served as Dean of Students in the Division of Student Life. In her 15-year career at the University of the Pacific, she served as Associate Professor and Program Director in the Benerd School of Education, Interim Vice President for Student Life, Assistant and Associate Vice President for Student Life, and Associate Director of the Career Resource Center.
Eva Johnson returns this year as Dean for Student Development, and continues her role as Director of Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL). She oversees student activities and leadership programs, coordinates Student Rights and Responsibilities with the support of Melissa Williams (Resident Director of Harstad Hall), and serves on the Wild Hope Center for Vocation Steering Committee and the Summer Academy Task Force.
Tom Huelsbeck is the Associate Dean for Campus Life, and Executive Director of Residential Life. The daily operations of Campus Safety and parking issues report to Tom. (In situations requiring emergency operations, Campus Safety reports to the Vice President for Student Life).
Tom is also the Interim Director of Facilities Management, overseeing the responsibilities of that department until the installation of a new Director later this year.

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) houses the Diversity Center, the nationally recognized and award winning- Student Leadership Institute, and Student Rights and Responsibilities (formerly Student Conduct).
SIL also oversees programs related to new student orientation, student media, student government (ASPLU), student clubs and organizations, Emerging Leaders, and support for commuter and transfer students.
