The federal government has selected you for the Verification process of your FAFSA. You will be notified by PLU when you have been selected for this process. Your financial aid will not disburse to your student account to pay your tuition expenses until this process is completed.

ePASS - REQUIRED by all Students
Your ePass is for your PLU gmail. It will also give you access to library resources, computers in computer labs, registering your personal computer and to the online student phone directory. Your ePass will also give you access to Sakai, a class management system for students and professors. Check your email frequently during the summer, it is the University's primary method of communicating with you.
To create your ePass:1. Go to newepass.plu.edu (Have your 8 digit PLU ID number ready!)

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
To be eligible for federal loan(s) or possible federal, state and/or university gift aid, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to www.fafsa.gov to apply. You will enter PLU's school code 003785. You will need your Federal PIN to apply. PLU will be informed when you have completed your FAFSA and the Financial Aid office will generate an Offer of Financial Aid with any eligible Federal, State and University need-based gift aid.Back to top

UPDATE YOUR FILING STATUS & TAX INFORMATION ON YOUR FAFSA
You completed your FAFSA prior to filing your and/or your parent 2012 Tax Return. You and your parent, if applicable, are now required to update your filing status and tax information. - Log onto www.fafsa.gov
- Click on Start Here
- Enter student information, as prompted
- On "My FAFSA" main page, click on "Make a FAFSA Correction"
- Complete the password page
- Introduction Page - 2013-2014 Correction, click on Financial Information (tab located in the top bar)
- The first drop-down box on the next page should correspond to the question: For 2012 have your parents completed their IRS income tax return or another tax return. Select "Already Completed" or "Did not File" in the drop-down box. The correct filing status must be updated for both student and parent, if applicable.
- Then mark the corresponding option(s) relevant to your tax information.
If you selected "none of the above", a prompt to link to the IRS will automatically be available.
If you, the parents, recently filed taxes, click on the bottom link to "view option to link to the IRS."
NOTE: selecting any other options will render you unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR OFFER OF FINANCIAL AID
Offer of Financial AidIf you have received an Offer of Financial Aid, you need to accept or decline online. Notification of any revisions to your Offer of Financial Aid will be emailed to your student PLU email with instructions to view any changes. It is your responsibility to check the messages on what was changed, make sure you relay the information to a parent/guardian or any person helping you make financial decisions, if applicable.

You have been selected for Verification. The Federal Government randomly selects students for a process called Verification. It confirms the accuracy of information you submitted on your FAFSA. The Verification process must be completed before your Financial Aid can be disbursed to your student account.You are required to complete the following TWO steps:

WA STATE STUDENT DIRECTIVE FOR DISBURSEMENT OF STATE STUDENT AID
Please complete the Washington State Student Directive stating your choice on how you wish to disburse your Washington State Student Aid. Currently all your other issued financial aid is automatically disbursed onto your student account. Please return the completed form to the Student Services Center.

PERKINS LOAN
If you were offered a Perkins Loan on your Offer of Financial Aid, then you will receive an email from PLU Student Loans when you can complete the annual online requirements. At the beginning of each year you can not complete the online requirements until August.
To complete these requirements please click on the following link:

IMPORTANT: THE FOLLOWING WILL BE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS:
1. Your social security number
2. Your driver's license number
3. Name, address, and telephone number of your parents or guardian

5. Name, address, and telephone number of 2 references, other than relatives, from your home locality
6. Your FSA pin to electronically sign the required paperwork (if you do not have your FSA pin,

Make sure you complete the following four sections:

The money will not be disbursed to your account until the student loan office receives confirmation of the completed Entrance and electronically signed Total Loan Indebtedness Disclosure.
You will need to electronically sign the Master Promissory Note if you have not done one previously.

FEDERAL DIRECT SUBSIDIZED AND UNSUBSIDIZED LOANS
The Federal Direct Loan is a long term loan with a fixed interest rate. The interest on the need-based, subsidized loan does not accrue while the student is enrolled at least half time or in the grace period. The unsubsidized loan is not based on financial need and interest accrual begins upon loan disbursement. Loan funds are borrowed directly from the federal government through the U.S. Department of Education.
If you had a Federal Direct loan last year, all you have to do is ACCEPT this loan(s) on your Offer of Financial Aid on Bannerweb. You signed a Master Promissory Note (MPN) in a previous year.
If this is the first year you have accepted Federal Direct Student Loans, you must complete the following:
• Entrance Counseling -This required process is educating you on having a student loan
• Master Promissory Note (MPN) -Completing the required application, then signing you agree to repay this loan Online Instructions

FEDERAL PARENT PLUS LOAN
The amount of this loan is flexible and is based on parent credit approval. The loan amount offered to you is the maximum loan amount based on your student's cost of education. It can be decreased. This loan can help you fill in any shortage needed to cover tuition, room, meals, course fees, books and misc.. fees. You can request this loan anytime during the academic year. You will complete this process each year you wish to borrow funds. It is a two step process to complete the Application and Master Promissory Note:

NOTE 1: You will have two questions that may be confusing:

Credit Balance Options - If you wish any remaining balance to go to the student for expenses, choose The Student

OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPSIf you receive an outside scholarship, it is your responsibility to make sure the funds are received by the university no later than September 25th for the fall semester and February 25th for the spring semester. If the scholarship is received after required dates, you may be assessed an interest charge on your unpaid balance. All scholarships are split in half to be disbursed in fall semester and spring semester, unless specified by the donor. FULLTIME ENROLLMENT
Your financial aid is based on your enrollment listed on your Offer of Financial Aid.
Full Time Undergraduate Enrollment = minimum of 12 credits
Half Time Undergraduate Enrollment = minimum of 6 credits
Full Time Graduate Enrollment = minimum of 8 credits
Half Time Graduate Enrollment = minimum of 4 credits

2013-2014 CONFIRMATION OF LIVING AT HOME
Pacific Lutheran University requires that all single, full-time students live in university housing unless:
- Living at home with parent, spouse, or child and within 30 miles of PLU's address. This requires completing a notarized Confirmation of Living At Home Agreement for each academic year.
- 20 years of age or Junior Status (60 semester hours) on or before September 1 to be exempt for the academic year, or on or before February 1 to be exempt for the spring semester.

A.W.G.DEWAR TUITION REFUND PLAN
Has your student considered the optional A.W.G. Dewar Tuition Refund plan?
In the event of an emergency (such as personal injury, illness, or psychological distress), and if a full withdrawal from PLU is medically necessary, this plan covers tuition, room and meals.
To apply or get more information, your student can visit http://www.collegerefund.com. At the menu, select Pacific Lutheran University. You can also contact the Office of Student Life at 253-535-7191.

STUDENT BILLING STATEMENTS
Semester Pre-Bills
This is a billing statement that will show tuition charges and financial aid and any outside scholarship. It will not show you any credits on your account. This billing statement is to help you budget for the up coming semester. Fall pre-bill will come in July
J-term and Spring pre-bill will come in November
Monthly Billing Statements
You will receive a monthly billing statement the first week of each month. The billing statement is to show you transactions that have transpired the previous month. If you did not have any activity the previous month and your balance is "0", you will not receive a billing statement.
