Office of
Student Employment

Evaluation Process

The Office of Student Employment strives to enhance student development through on-the-job experience. In order to promote learning on-the-job, we feel it is necessary to train students with the proper skills and knowledge needed to be successful employees.

Help develop your students into the employees of tomorrow's workforce. We encourage all employers to train student employees and provide evaluations of their work at the end of each semester.

Our office is happy to provide a basic rubric to use to evaluate the work being done by your student employee. Please feel free to adapt this model to fit your department or office. The ultimate goal of a training and evaluation process is to provide students with the background knowledge and feedback needed to:

  1. Promote students' personal and professional development.
  2. Coach students to strengthen their work ethic and skills by holding them accountable.
  3. Provide a portfolio of employment experience that students can draw from when applying for furture jobs.
  4. Foster reflection and learning.

The completed evaluation should be discussed with the student and s/he should be given a copy of this form. Additionally, a copy of the completed evaluation should be forwarded to the Office of Student Employment for the student's file and the original should be kept on file within the department, office, or division of origin.
