Biography:


Neal Sobania is the Executive Director of the Wang Center for Global Education and Professor of History at Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA. As a teacher he has taught a wider range of courses in African history and African studies, and as an international educator has held many elected positions at both the regional and national level. As an active scholar his research and publications focus on Ethiopia and East Africa. Current projects include research on the visual traditions of Ethiopia and the use of photographs as historical documents. He is a former Peace Corps volunteer and staff member, has worked for Unesco/UNEP, curated museum exhibitions, written and filmed documentaries, and is the author of two books and numerous articles.
