Congratulations!  Your decision to study away will provide you with many exciting adventures and experiences.  Please follow these tips as you prepare for your time away:

  • Passport information
    • Submit your passport information electronically to the Wang Center. If you do not have a valid passport, you will need to apply for one or renew your passport if has expired, or will expire soon.  All passports must be valid for at least 6 additional months once your J-Term study away program has ended.  To remain on the side of caution, we recommend that all passports should be valid through the September FOLLOWING the J-term course.
  • Good Standing
    • All accepted students must remain in good standing before and during program participation. Good standing means that you are able to receive academic, health, student conduct, and financial clearances from the university.
  • Pre-departure meetings
    • Attend all required pre-departure meetings, as assigned by your program faculty leader. A Wang Center representative and a Health Center respresentative will attend only one of your pre-departure meetings (probably the first one scheduled by your faculty leader which should occur sometime between September 4 - October 1).  The information and forms that you receive from the Wang Center and Health Center representatives is very important.  After you have received the introductory information presented by the Health Center at your pre-departure meeting, then you should make an appointment to visit the Health Center (more information).  Please bring the appropriate form(s) to your medicalappointment.
  • Forms
    • Submit all required forms and paperwork by the established deadlines.  Individual programs may have separate paperwork requirements.  The final date that the Wang Center will accept any outstanding paperwork is the beginning of December..  Failure to submit the required forms and paperwork may result in your dismissal from the program.

**To withdraw from a J-Term study away program for any reason, students must send an email indicating their cancellation to wang.center@plu.edu.  Any student that withdraws after December 1 will be responsible for 100% of the program fee as billed to their student account.
