Tobacco-free Campus Begins June 1

Committed to Health and Safety

Pacific Lutheran University has had a longstanding commitment to promote and support a healthy and safe campus environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. In keeping with that commitment, the university will become a tobacco-free campus on June 1.

Smoking areas will be closed June 1. From now through May the focus will be public information and education. During this time, free smoking cessation and support programs will be available to those who wish to take advantage of them.

Last fall and winter a task force held community conversations and drafted policies and procedures for a tobacco-free PLU.

Regular email announcements on progress will be made to the campus community and updates to this website will be made regarding the ongoing development of tobacco-free PLU.
