Peace Community Center

In an era of inequity and denied access, Peace Community Center aims to empower low income students and students of color through mentorship and tutoring so that they can reach their full potential.  We are looking for volunteers who are interested in working with either high school or elementary aged youth.

  • Our elementary program is KidReach, which meets every Thursday from 6:15pm-8:00pm.  It pairs the volunteer with an individual student to act as a mentor.  During that time the volunteer will practice academic skills with the student and play games with the student.  This program requires consistent commitment through May.
  • Our high school program is Hilltop Scholars, which meets Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00-5:15.  Volunteers are asked to pick a day that works with their schedule and consistently show up to tutor students in subjects that the volunteer is comfortable with.  This is not an individual match program.  The volunteer may work with a variety of students during the course of their service.
