Position at PLU: Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA), Chinese Studies Department
I am from Xi’an China, an ancient city boasting lots of historical relics. I pursued my Bachelor’s Degree and Mater’s Degree in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at Xidian University and remained as a faculty upon my graduation. The university name is an abbreviation since Xi stands for the city Xi’an and dian means electronics and technology in Chinese, hence the name. I teach college English at my home institution and I love this job so much and like staying with students.
Even though I have studied English and taught English for ten years in total, I have never been to an English-speaking country before. So last year, I applied for the Fulbright Program and was luckily chosen as a nominee. At PLU, I assistant teaching Chinese and spread Chinese cultures on any Chinese-related occasions. At the same time, I take courses and participate in the American classes. I join in clubs and hang out with PLU students. This double status gives me great chances to experience the true American campus culture to the utmost extent.
Stepping on strange lands and knowing people of all races, all ages and all occupations are so amazing and thrilling. I will make most of my one-year stay here. And I also believe my interest in Chinese traditional culture and my introduction to the fresh China will make my country vivid to American students.
