Attending to Your Return
While you are studying abroad, you may feel a bit disconnected from PLU. You are in an exciting new place, learning new things and meeting new people. In the midst of all that, you still need to take time to attend to details related to your return to PLU. Here are some resources to help you do that.
Class Registration
You are responsible for registering yourself on-line, using Banner Web, for the classes you want to take after your return. As a study abroad student, you are given priority status for registration. The first registration appointments of the first day are reserved for graduate students, honors students, study abroad students who are overseas, and special needs students. The Registrar’s Office sends an e-mail to students informing them when registration will open.
Registration appointment times are set for other continuing students (who aren’t studying abroad) according to the number of earned hours in descending order. To learn your registration appointment time, please go to Banner Web. After logging in, select Student Services & Financial Aid, then Registration, and Check your Registration Status. You will then need to select the term for which you are registering. The next page will inform you of your registration appointment time as well as whether or not any holds, academic standing, or student status would prevent your registration.
Students with less than 60 earned credit hours are required to obtain an alternative code for registration from their advisor. Please be in contact with your academic advisor (via email) to correspond about course selection and academic progress. In addition, students of all class levels are encouraged to communicate with their advisor. Feel free to email a professional advisor at advising@plu.edu in Academic Advising if you have additional questions.
The PLU catalog is available on PLU's website. Use the catalog in consultation with your academic advisor to select your courses for your return and to check on major and minor requirements. The semester and J-term course schedule are also posted on-line.
You should register on-line using Banner Web. Refer to the Banner Web section of the Registrar’s Office web site for registration instructions.

Some special registrations must be done in person at the Student Services Center or the Registrar's Office unless otherwise indicated. These include independent studies, class audits, classes requiring approval, and class load exceptions. If you have questions about one of those, please contact Amy Fox in The Wang Center at foxae@plu.edu.
Class Wait Listing
Wait listing a class cannot be done on Banner Web. A completed hardcopy of the wait list form must be submitted to the Student Services Center for processing. Please contact your academic advisor for assistance with wait listing. Up to two classes per semester can be wait listed. If you are below the third or fourth place on the wait list you are strongly advised to register for a substitute class, as it is unlikely you will get into the wait listed class.
The Registrar's Office will move students (in wait list order) from the wait list into closed classes as seats become available until one week before the term begins. At that point the instructor will determine which students will be admitted to closed classes. Students will be informed by e-mail or conventional mail if they have been admitted into a wait-listed class. Students still on the wait list as of the week before the term begins must attend the first class and request the instructor's signature on an add/drop form to be granted a place in the class. This completed form must be submitted to the Student Services Center before the deadline to add and drop classes.
Transcripts
For the courses you are taking while studying abroad please have transcripts sent to the Wang Center, not the Registrar’s Office.
