Language, Art and Culture in the New Germany
Course Description:
This interdisciplinary course based in magnificent Berlin, Germany, combines German language instruction, close cultural study, and an authentic home stay experience. While in Berlin you will receive intensive language instruction at Eurocentres Language Institute in the mornings, followed by excursions to various points of local interest in the afternoons. On weekends and for several days at the end of our course, we will explore the cultural centers of Leipzig, Weimar, Nuremberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and Munich as we continue our study of art, architecture, religion, history, music, film, theater, philosophy, and politics in context. You will also have a free weekend to plan as you wish. In our travels we will visit some of Europe's premier art museums and view a dazzling array of architectural styles such as the stunning modern glass dome atop the Reichstag parliament building in Berlin. You will have the opportunity to see how people escaped from East Germany and visit a former concentration camp and other sites associated with the Third Reich.
