Paris Sketching School

Sketching School: Urban Themes in Paris


Course Description:

Explore and discover Paris through the sketchbook. Learn drawing and watercolor by creating a travel journal. Experience the richness of Parisian art and culture. Through museum visits and tours, the class will delve into urban themes inspired from art history. You, the Modern Impressionist, will brave changing weather, lighting and a moving public to capture spontaneous moments through drawing and watercolor painting. The journey's end will culminate in the creation of a painting combining multiple sketches into a final piece. Drawing experience and personal digital cameras are required. Knowledge of French is helpful, but not required.


Course Objectives:

•  Roles of sketching/analysis and visual discoveries through touring.


Prerequisite:

Drawing experience required.


Course Credit:

ARTD 387 (4 credits). Art department credit, satisfies art GUR.


Program Fee:

$4,450. Includes airfare, housing, and two meals per day.


Application Deadline:

April 18, 2008. A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 is required with the application. A $250.00 non-refundable program payment is due within 10 days of notification of acceptance to confirm participation in the course . Maximum of 16 students.
