Genoa

We begin with a morning walking tour of Genoa's historic center.   We focus on the economic history of this former maritime republic, and the political institutions that supported its emergence as a trading powerhouse during the Late Medieval Commercial Revolution.  Read the first chapter from Stephen Epstein's book Genoa and the Genoese to develop your understanding of the role Genoa's environment played in her development as a maritime republic.
