For my Professional Foundations class (Nursing 260) we were asked to come up with our own definition of nursing. Mine is currently similar to Virginia Henderson's, but as I move through the program I am sure it will grow and change along with me. Definition of Nursing The provision of physical, psychological, and spiritual care to individuals, families, and communities that are unable to meet their needs on their own, and also the provision of knowledge so as to reestablish independence as quickly as possible while forming a trusting, therapeutic relationship with the individual or group. |
