Service Experiences I have had many opportunities to provide service to others, but not many as a future nurse. I have provided basic services to resident's at the Linden Grove nursing home during my Nursing Competencies I clinical. In my Professional Foundations course I have learned immensely useful information not only on the role of service, but on the best way to provide service, and why providing service is important. During a religion course at PLU I was required to do a service learning project. A classmate and I decided to work with the Pierce County AIDS Foundation and I had to write a paper after I was done. While my service in this instance did not directly affect another individual, it did help those afflicted with HIV/AIDS indirectly. I was also able to provide some education to individuals who may have previously been unaware.I think that the role of service encompasses much more than it seems. You can offer your services in more ways than one, and every way helps someone! |
