Nursing Process

Program objective ~

Apply the nursing process in the provision of direct and indirect care of individuals, families, and communities in a variety of settings and across diverse populations.

PROGRESS TOWARD OBJECTIVE:

I have completed a clinical rotation in a long term care facility which involved direct care of individuals as well as their families. I have also completed a teaching project which involved three year old children which was indirect care or health promotion were we provided teeth brushing education to the children. I have also supplied support and education directly to a fellow co-horts heart failure client during a home visit.

I have also learned about the nursing process in NURS 220, 260 as well as 270. I knowledge I have gained about the nursing process can be applied to patients during clinicals in the future.

PLAN FOR ACCOMPLISHING OBJECTIVE IN FUTURE:

Future plans to accomplish this outcome include various clinical rotations as well as community service opportunities and community health rotations.

~ Philosophy of Nursing ~

My assumptions about nursing:

The core of nursing is: integrity, service, compassion, empathy, caring

The focus of nursing is: Providing a holistic approach of healing for the patient, mind body and soul.
I
My beliefs about persons, health, and environment are:

Persons (Individuals, families, communities): every person should be treated equality and professionally. Patient care includes those who are sick as well as their families. The healing process includes all of these; individual, families as well as community.

Health: A healthy individual can be sick physically, in order to heal the whole person must be well. It is not was is just wrong with a person physically that makes them healthy or unhealthy. The mind and soul must also be treated and must remain healthy in order for a person to heal.

Environment: Environment is just as important to healing as community or families. In order for holistic healing to take place the patients enviornment should be a positive one with optimistic surroundings.

My beliefs about the outcomes of nursing:

Nursing must be a holistic approach to healing. The whole patient must be attended to; mind, body and soul.

My beliefs about how to facilitate health:

Health can be facilitated by supplying support during the healing process.

How will I live out my philosophy in practice?

I will live out my philosophy in practice by giving support to my patients whenever needed. I will also treat the patient holistically; assisting with healing mind, body and soul.
