Songfest 2000

Work hard. Play hard. PLU students could have written this motto. PLU students seem to create fun wherever they may be. The friendly community at PLU welcomes anyone and everyone to get involved in all types of activities. It's hard for people in the PLU community to not smile and say hello to someone while walking through Red Square.

At PLU, you might find yourself singing and dancing in the fiercely competitive and wildly funny Homecoming tradition of Songfest, tumbling on the lawn during a human bowling tournament, or interacting with the local children who are invited to trick-or-treat through your residence hall on Halloween. Maybe during your free time you'll head up to Mount Rainier, ride a ferry or play a game of tennis between classes.

Your weekend could include service and fun with an agenda like this one sponsored by some creative PLU residents: Caravan to Seattle on a Friday afternoon, then savor dinner at Pike Place Market. Afterwards, laugh until it hurts during an evening at Theatre Sports. Sleep in sleeping bags at an accommodating Lutheran church, then rise early to serve meals at a rescue mission all day Saturday. Yes, PLU students know how to work and play hard.
