What Should I Do My Senior Year of High School?

September
• Attend the PLU Fall Open House on September 21, 2003 to get an orientation of campus and meet current students.
• Talk with your guidance counselor or contact our Admissions Office to set up a campus/overnight visit and counseling appointment. If you are unable to visit campus, find out when a representative will be in your area for a high school visit or college fair. You can also look on our Admissions Counselor travel schedule and see a tentative schedule for the upcoming year.
• Check the PLU Important Dates (at right) and stay on top of application and FAFSA deadlines.
• Begin putting together an application portfolio of your extracurricular, volunteer, academic and community involvement. Note any awards and honors, work experience, special achievements in your portfolio.
• Contact any professors, coaches, directors that oversee your area of interest at PLU and make an appointment to visit the campus and talk about involvement opportunities.

October
• Take the ACT or SAT. The SAT code for PLU is 4597, the ACT code for PLU is 4470.
• Download the PLU Online Application or fill out the PLU application for admission located in the back of the PLU Viewbook.
• Attend college fairs and high school financial aid seminars.
• Meet with your high school counselor to find out about possible scholarship opportunities. Check out PLU's scholarships and apply for those that pertain to you.
• If possible, visit campus, stay overnight with a student and attend classes in your interest area.

November
•Watch the mail for your invitation to visit PLU on Veterans Day •Verify that your SAT or ACT scores arrived at the PLU Admissions Office and are in your application folder.
• Pick up the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form from your high school counseling office.

December
• Continue the application process, send in the completed application as soon as you have it finished. The average notification time at PLU is two to three weeks.
• Continue to apply for scholarships.
• Happy Holidays to you and your family! Enjoy the break from classes!

January
• Students eligible for the President's and Regent's scholarship competition must be postmark all scholarship and admission application materials
by Jan. 3.
• Fill out the FAFSA and submit the form by Jan. 31. Our FAFSA code is 003785. You can also download the FAFSA from the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
• For optimal financial aid awarding, all application materials should be postmarked by Jan. 31.

February
• Attend the regional reception hosted by your Admissions Counselor!
• A good time to make a visit to campus.

March
• Confirm your FAFSA information has arrived at Financial Aid.

April
• Attend Passport Weekend for Admitted Freshmen!

May
• The $200.00 advanced payment is due.
• Respond to your offer of financial aid.
• Make your registration appointment with Academic Advising to register for classes.

June/July
• Register for your fall classes!

August
• You will receive housing and orientation information in the mail.

September
• Attend the new student orientation.
• Move into your residence hall.
• Begin classes!
