Through my coursework at PLU, internships and physical work experiences I have acquired a unique set of core competencies. Breaking this down, I would say my understanding in communications, global management and information systems has made me into a well-rounded informed employee and citizen. | Communications If your goal is to climb the corporate ladder, being an effective, confident communicator is vital. Although we are living in a day and age where society is shifting towards a more impersonal form of communication, such as email and text messaging, PLU remains strong by stressing the importance of oral and written communication skills. Through the combination of my writing and communications courses I have conquered my fears of public speaking and become a very accomplished writer.
Global Perspective
Today, businesses are more global than ever before. Business competition is no longer restricted by geographic lines and outsourcing has become a norm and competitive advantage for some corporations. At PLU, I have experienced more than a handful of courses regarding the world economy in relation to demographics, politics, economics, environments, cultures and social issues. Information Systems
In today’s highly technological world, the information within an organization can be just as important as the organizations assets. The way a company organizes and centralizes its information often directly impacts how efficiently they can run their business. PLU has given me direct exposure in working with and developing information system inside and outside of the campus. Through internships I have had direct contact with high detailed corporate information systems ,through my work experience I am experienced in accounting info systems and during school I have had specialized training in programs such as Microsoft office, particularly excel.
