community

Currently I am a student at Pacific Lutheran University and am part of that community. It is my freshman year and so far I have found many aspects of PLU that I am happy with and some disappointments. I am learning who I want to be, where I am going, and where I am right now.

Some of my joys in this school include:

The class sizes, I really enjoy the fact that at this school you are in a classroom of an average of only twenty students. This has lead me to really get to know some of my professors and them get to know me.

My courses I have found to be extremely interesting for the most part and that has lead to me getting better then expected grades in them. I feel like for a freshman I am doing very well in my classes and this has given me the confidence to keep going.

The nursing program is something I am applying to and am thrilled that this school has one. When I first applied to PLU I did not really consider nursing so I could have ended up at a school that did not offer it. Yet now that I am here I know it is what I want to do, which makes the fact that we have that program even better.

How close you become to your community members at PLU. Living in Harstad I have been able to make some really great friendships with other students which have helped me to adapt to college life very well.

Some of my Disappointments:

I thought that by coming to college I would be among people more like me. People that have goals and are working to achieve them like myself. Yet there are some people in my classes that are flunking out and do not really value education. I just find it amazing that they are paying so much money for an education and not taking advantage of it.

The major that I decided on is very competitive. It is overwhelming to me that I finally get into college and know what I want to do and may not be able to get into the program.
