The forest floor of the Rain Forest contains very few plants due to the low amount of light and high humidity in the region.  Plants that do grow in the forest floor must tolerate deep shade.   The forest floor is covered with decomposing vegetation and organisms that break down into usable nutrients.

Common Animals: Tapirs and insects including termites, cockroaches, beetles, centipedes, millipedes, scorpions, earthworms and fungi.
