Impact on the Profession

Nursing 220 - Nursing Competencies

In this class there was a substantial amount of emphasis on nurses as advocates and being actively involved with legislatures regarding health care issues.

Nursing 260 - Professional Foundations I

In this class discussion often centered around observations of students in health care settings where the care being provided by practicing nurses did not seem consistent with the standards of care we are learning.  These important discussions highlighted our role as the next generation of nurses with a responsibility to improve the profession where necessary but to do so in a sensitive manner that does not assume we have all the answers.

Nursing 270 - Health Assessment & Health Promotion

In the health promotion portion of this class I developed a deeper understanding of the various ways that nurses can influence the health care delivery system by actively engaging in prevention and educational activities in order to prevent and detect the various threats to the community's health.
