Movie Nights!

Because movie nights are magical events that bring joy to the hearts of many, PLU Anime Club hosts two anime films one Saturday night each month. We invite you to join us for a showcase of Japanese joy.

Super Lina Powers, Activate!

October 25th - Anime Monster Movie Night

Monster Movie NightThe occult has always been a topic of interest in anime. From vampires and witches to ghosts and demons, the supremely supernatural excites and entertains the world over! We'll be watching two films (start your suggestions... NOW!), eating many magical munchies, and maybe even having a costume contest.

Suggestions so far: Vampire Hunter D (the original and Bloodlust) and Kiki's Delivery Service.

Also, as a club fundraiser, (because we are poor) I'll be selling these fantastically custom-designed posters (11x17", full-color, and designed by your fantabulous club president) to whoever wants one. $2, and without staple puncture marks.

September 13th - Anime Interest Night

Planning in advance much? For anyone who'll be around in the fall, Saturday, September 13th will be our first meeting of the year. We'll have pocky, Anime previews, choose our series for the year, and vote on when to have our weekly meetings. Can't make the interest meeting? Email me your ideas!

May 10th - Jubei-a-thon

Lovely Eyepatch...
We're going to use our last movie night to watch the last 7 episodes of Jubei-Chan: The Ninja Girl. Wacky humor and beautifully animated fight scenes will make this popcorn-worthy movie night a great one. I may even bring the popcorn, too.

April 12th - Laputa: Castle in the Sky and The Cat Returns

LaputaIt's going to be a comfy-cozy family-friendly night; but don't think that means that it will be boring. Both films are Hayao Miyazaki-flavored spectacles, and while The Cat Returns is more comedic and light-hearted, Laputa has excitement and adventure (some robots and a magic tree, too). Add a few air pirates and tuxedo cats, and you have a pretty good idea of what Movie Night will be like. Enjoy!

March 8th - FLCL

HarukoFooly Cooly, Furi Kuri... call it what you will, this high-octane, six-episode series is a must-see Anime fun fest! You'll see everything from aliens to guitars, Elvis impersonations to South Park parodies, and giant robots to bunny girls. Fantastic soundtrack, great visuals, and some of the best humor Anime has to offer.
Bask in the awesome.

February 9th -

Paprika and TekkonKinkreet

PaprikaIn Paprika, a team of scientists unlock the gateway to the world of dreams, and the consequences place them in a struggle between the imaginary and the real as the two begin to merge.

TekkonKinkreet is the story of two boys named Black and White trying to survive in a gritty world of crime and disorder. Oh, and there are some funky aliens, amusement parks, and magic powers, too.

A Brilliant Idea!

What if we had two movie nights each month? Say, every other Saturday? Contemplate it, peoples.
