Requirements
Requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
36 semester hours of class work in Anthropology including:
Anthropology 102 Introduction to Human Cultural Diversity
Anthropology 103 Introduction to Archaeology and World Prehistory
Anthropology 101 Introduction to Human Biological Diversity
OR 104 Introduction to Language in Society
Anthropology 480 Anthropological Inquiry (usually in the senior year)
Anthropology 499 Capstone (usually in the senior year)
4 semester hours 330-345 (these focus on areas of the world)
4 semester hours 350-465 (these focus on topics across the world)
8 additional semester hours (4 above 321)
Requirements for a Minor in Anthropology
20 semester hours of classwork in Anthropology including:
Anthropology 102 Introduction to Human Cultural Diversity
Anthropology 103 Introduction to Archaeology and World Prehistory
OR 101 Introduction to Human Biological Diversity
OR 104 Introduction to Language in Society
4 semester hours 330-345 (these focus on areas of the world)
4 semester hours 350-465 (these focus on topics across the world)
4 additional semester hours
Additional University Requirements:
All normal requirements as noted in the PLU catalog
Minimum grade of C- in major, minor courses with a GPA 2.0 + in
those
classes
Completed Arts and Sciences Requirement
No more than 44 credits in the department count towards graduation
At least 6 credits in the major must be taken at PLU
The department has approval over course chosen for the major/minor.
Choices
Students at PLU can choose a
major or minor in anthropology. Within the major students can elect to
focus on cultural anthropology or archaeology or explore anthropology
as a whole.
