ARTICLE I: NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION


Section 1. This organization shall be named The Asian Pacific Islander's Club (API). Section 2. This organization shall comply with the stated objectives of Pacific Lutheran University, as well as the rules and regulations established by the University, and is responsible to University authorities.

ARTICLE II: PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION


Section 1. To promote awareness of Asian Pacific Islander cultures and traditions to the Pacific Lutheran University and outside community and especially to bring about self-awareness of cultures and traditions.
Section 2. Promote awareness about the organization's activities to the students, faculty, and staff of Pacific Lutheran University.
Section 3. Provide social activities and educational programs for the organization and the University community.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP OF THE ORGANIZATION


Section 1. Membership shall consist of all active members of the organization and the advisor.
Section 2. An active member is defined as any student, faculty, or staff member of the University who meets the following criteria:


Section 3. No person shall be denied membership on the basis of sex, color, race, religion, age, nationality, social status, physical or mental disabilities, sexual orientation, or creed. The association complies with Title 6 and Title 9 of the Federal Education Amendment.
Section 4. The requirement of annual due payment will be determined at the beginning of each school year (Fall semester) by the Executive Committee.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS AND THE ORGANIZATION


Section 1. The officers of the organization shall consist of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Public Relations Director. They shall be called the Executive Committee.
Section 2. The President shall a) preside over the meetings, b) appoint all committees deemed necessary and appropriate by the organization.
Section 3. The Vice President shall a) preside over the meetings in the absence of the President, b) notify all members of upcoming meetings.
Section 4. The Treasurer shall a) prepare the annual budget, b) be in charge of transacting and reporting all the organization's financial affairs, c) communicate all affairs to the President and/or Vice President bi-monthly.
Section 5. The Secretary shall a) take minutes of all meetings of the organization, b) be responsible for registering the organization each year with the Student Involvement and Leadership Office (SIL) and with the Associated Students of Pacific Lutheran University (ASPLU) Office.
Section 6. The Public Relations Director shall a) be in charge of publicity for upcoming meetings and activities, b) keep a running account of all API events.
Section 7. Elections shall be held a) in April for the upcoming year for the office of President, b) in October of the school year for all other offices.

ARTICLE V: ADVISOR


Section 1. The Advisor shall be a faculty member of Pacific Lutheran University, chosen and agreed upon by a simple majority of all members of the club. Section 2. The Advisor shall advise the officers of the Executive Committee on the Pacific Lutheran University's objectives, rules, and regulations.

ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS


Section 1. The organization shall hold its meetings two times every month. Section 2. Special meetings of the organization may be called by the President or the Advisor. Section 3. Meetings of the Executive Committee shall occur at least once a month.

ARTICLE VII: VOTING PROCEDURES


Section 1. Only active members are eligible to vote.
Section 2. A simple majority of those active members present at the meetings is required to pass a motion or legislation. All members must be properly notified of all meetings.

ARTICLE VIII: LIABILITY WAIVER


Section 1. Pacific Lutheran University will not be held responsible in the event of injury or damage to any person or property as the result of an organization-sponsored activity.

ARTICLE IX: PROCEDURES FOR AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION


Section 1. The Executive Committee shall review all proposed amendments.
Section 2. Amendment shall be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting discussion and voting.
