Duane
Swank earned his Ph.D. at Montana State University in chemistry
in 1969 and has been at PLU since 1970. He has fourteen publications
in the area of solid state chemistry. At PLU, he has taught
courses ranging from general chemistry for science majors through
upper division courses in inorganic and physical chemistry.
In addition, he has been responsible for developing laboratory
experiments using PCs interfaced to equipment.
Until recently,
he was the chair of PLU's Task Force on Teaching and Learning.
Currently, he teaches first semester general, physical, and
advanced inorganic chemistry. Dr. Swank has taught PLU's AP*
Institute for ten years and has remained in close contact with
past participants who are currently teaching AP* courses. He
has read AP* Chemistry Exams in the last two years.
The College
Board* has approved Dr. Swank as an endorsed consultant in AP*
chemistry.
