Course of Study and How it Relates to My Career Goals and How My Education at PLU Can Influence Those Goals |

| With some background information on what exactly this course entailed began to really analyze my own career goals. First, I knew that I wanted to work for a rather larger company that is well known such as Nintendo, Gatorade, Nike, and etc. In addition to that I wanted to manage some department in this company and have a great superior, employee relationship with my employees. Finally, I envision that everyday I way up to go to work I wake up excited and prepared to go to work and when I left my job I left with a smile on my face knowing that I accomplished something. To me your job should not be something forced upon you and something that you don't enjoy, but yet it should be something you love to do and continually surprised you with something new everyday. In this course we learned several different characteristics of a manager that very much so related to my career goals. I was finally given a true definition of what a management is which is the process of guiding the development, maintenance, and allocation of resources to attain organizational goals, and I believe that I could do that. As a manager at a larger well known company I believe that I would be middle management which is a manager who designs and carries out tactical plans in specific area of the company. Another check mark to my career goals. My goal of having a great superior, employee relationship I believe I could build by the leadership style that I choose to abide by which is a participative leader. Participative leaders share decision making with group member, my employees, and encourage discussion of issues and alternatives, with this process my employees will feel more involved into the company and I believe would work harder which will then lead to more effective efficiency. If a conflict arises I would try my best to go through the decision making process which is defining: Defining the problem, identifying possible solutions, selecting one or more alternatives, putting the plan into action, and then following up to see if the problem has been solved. Doing this process I strive that majority of the disputes are resolved and work in favor of all participants in the conflict. Successfully accomplishing all these different tasks as a manager I believe that I will be able to wake up in the morning and leave my job happily and with a smile on my face ready and to do it all again the next day. My education at PLU will also help me achieve this goals. I am now taking more business related classes so it will allow me gain more knowledge on the career that I have chosen which will also allow me to achieve my goals. PLU offers several insightful courses to help those in a particular concentration of a major. With the great teaching I will be equip to handle my job field when I have my chosen career which will allow me more efficiently reach my goals and to strive for higher goals. The main aspect of my PLU education is the knowledge I take from my courses that I take that PLU has to offer. |
Attending PLU I am sophomore currently and I plan to graduate from PLU so my journey of learning will be experience at PLU. |
