Information
Resources Permission to Use Permission to examine materials will be granted to qualified researchers upon completion of the "Application to Use Materials" form. Access to Collections Materials are kept in closed stacks and are not open for browsing. A staff member will bring materials to the Reading Room. The researcher should bring only those materials needed for research to the Reading Room table. Please leave personal items in the lockers provided. Materials Provided to Researcher The researcher is responsible for safeguarding any material made available and may not remove materials from the Reading Room for any purpose. Materials are not to be rearranged or removed from folders. If the materials appear to be out of order, please notify a staff member. Use of Material Because of the irreplaceable and often fragile nature of many of the materials, both staff and researchers have the obligation of preserving them for future use. All materials should be handled with great care. Manuscripts and books should not be leaned on, written on, folded, traced from or handled in any way likely to damage them. Please use only pencils for research as ink is damaging to the materials. Eating and Drinking In order to protect materials, eating and drinking is prohibited in the Reading Room. Duplication Services Materials may be duplicated with permission from the archivist. Single copies are available at 10 cents each. Permission will be granted if duplication can be done without injury to the material and without violating copyright restrictions. Supplying a copy of materials does not imply authorization to publish. Publishing Any publication of materials from the collections must credit the PLU Archives and Special Collections. Citations should follow this format: Identification of item, Collection Name, University Archives and Special Collections, Pacific Lutheran University.
