Welcome to the pictorial history of Pacific Lutheran University!
Please use the timeline to the left to navigate.
Images chosen for this pictorial history come from the over 500,000 images preserved in the university archives.
The selected pictures provide a glimpse of the university from 1890 until today. This is a dynamic document and will
be continually updated.
Historical content was selected from the 1,080 linear feet of primary sources in the archives and from PLU's two
published histories, The Lamp and the Cross by Walter C. Schnackenberg
(1965) and Educating for Service
by Philip A. Nordquist (1990).
This pictorial history was created by Danielle Koenig (PLU Class of 2002) with content provided by Kerstin Ringdahl,
University Archivist. Gavin Jensen (PLU Class of 2001) designed the layout.
