Nursing Branch Briefing to Non-Nursing Military Peers

I have been assigned the task of preparing and briefing a presentation on the important services offered by Registered Nurses in the United States Army Nurse Corps for my Military Science course. This topic holds a special interest to me but also a challenging twist in that the vast majority of my peers are competing to be selected for physically demanding and non-medical related branches of the Army. I will face the challenge of providing evidence of the importance of nursing services in the Army, as well as demonstrate the appeal of being an Army nurse.  This presentation is currently being developed, and will be available for viewing upon completion.

Personal Reflections:  Completion of this assignment will enhance my public speaking skills, as well as help me obtain a better understanding and appreciation for the professional service offered by Registered Nurses in the Army.  I look forward to dispelling common misconceptions about Army nurses, as well as offer a more clear-but vision of the role of nurses in the military.  My goal is to invoke more interest in the Army Nurse Corps from my peers, as well as demonstrate my personal passion for one of the few Army careers which offer the opportunity to apply all professional education fundamentals directly to the the daily role.

What service means

to me

As you might have ready from my "About Me" page, I am a member of the Army ROTC program at Pacific Lutheran University.  One of the seven core values in the Army is "Selfless Service", which I hold very close to my heart.  Service is a principal of how I choose to live my life, as well as a pinnacle aspect of being a nurse.  I am fortunate to be able to experience serving others from both a professionally educated perspective, as well as from serving my country as a member of the armed forces.  It is an amazing phenomenon to me that my life and choices have led me to a path where my contributions of compassion, caring, and service can be offered in multiple ways, and to multiple populations of people.  I truly cannot think of a more rewarding and fulfilling way to spend my life, than to use my professional education and innate sense of service to benefit those around me.
