KAREN BELLER
(Softball, 1987-88)
Karen Beller ‘89 helped lead the Pacific
Lutheran softball team to the NAIA national title in 1988.
She played for two seasons and was an important asset to the
team. In 1987 she was named to the All-District team as a
catcher. In the 1988 national tournament Beller was named
the Most Valuable Player. Beller was 10-17 with seven RBI
at the tourney. She earned first-team All-American honors
in 1988 as well after hitting .452 with six doubles, five
triples, six home runs and 36 RBIs.

PAM
KNAPP BLACK
(Women's Crew, 1980-84)
Pam Knapp Black ‘84 rowed for PLU for
four years and went on to compete internationally. She was
a team commodore (captain) as a junior and senior. She was
the first rower in PLU history to win a gold medal at nationals,
and won numerous races during her collegiate career. Academically,
she was co-winner of the George Fisher Scholar-Athlete Award
for Women in 1984. In 1983 she was invited to the pre-elite
U.S. National Team. In 1986 she joined the U.S. National Rowing
Team, which placed second in Women’s Pair at the Goodwill
Games in Moscow and took ninth place at the Rowing World Championships
in Nottingham, England. She competed in the U.S. Sports Festival
Women’s Four in 1987 and in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials
in 1988, where her team took second place in Women’s
Pair.

CRAIG KUPP
(Football, 1987-89)
Craig Kupp ‘90 was a three-year letter
winner at PLU after transfering from Montana Tech. In his
career, he completed 300-of-499 passes for 3,921 yards, 41
TDs and 11 interceptions. He holds the school record for fewest
interceptions thrown in a season, with 3 in 1989 (out of 286
pass attempts), and shares the school record with 6 touchdown
passes in a game, against Southern Oregon in 1989. In his
senior season Kupp was a first-team all-conference and second-team
Little All-Northwest selection after completing 64.7 percent
of his pass attempts (185-286) for 2,398 yards and 25 touchdowns.
He was a fifth round NFL draft pick after his career at PLU.

KARIN
GILMER KUPP
(Women's Soccer, 1987-90)
Karin Gilmer Kupp ‘91 is seventh in
the women’s soccer career record book in assists with
27. She was PLU’s freshman Most Valuable Player and
was named the Most Inspirational Player following her senior
season. Kupp was an NAIA second team All-American in both
the 1989 and 1990 seasons. She was also named first-team All-Northwest
Conference, NAIA All-District and first-team NAIA All-West
Region in those two seasons, and also received National Coaches
Association West Region first-team honors in 1989 and second-team
recognition in 1990. Kupp was named an NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete
in 1989, and received National Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete
honors in 1989 and 1990. She helped the Lutes win the NAIA
national championship in 1988 and 1989 and claim a runner-up
finish in the national playoffs in 1990. |

DAVE LASHUA
(Men's Basketball, 1977-81)
Dave Lashua ‘81 earned All-Northwest
Conference and All-District honors his final three seasons
at PLU. He ranks No. 9 on the PLU career scoring list with
1,430 points, an average of 13.6 points per game. He scored
a single-game high of 33 points. In his career, he also averaged
9.7 rebounds per game, a total of 1,015 rebounds. He led the
team in points and rebounds his sophomore, junior and senior
seasons. He was also voted the MVP of the Aid Association
to Lutherans Basketball Tournament.

JEFF
ROHR
(Football, 1980-83)
Jeff Rohr is Pacific Lutheran University’s
all-time career rushing leader with 2,800 yards. A four-year
letter winner, he earned first-team All-Northwest Conference
honors his junior and senior seasons and was a second-team
all-conference selection as a sophomore. He was named to the
first-team All-District and Little All-Northwest teams in
1982 and 1983, and was an honorable mention Little All-Northwest
pick in 1981. In his senior season, Jeff led the team in rushing,
scoring and punting and was named an NAIA First Team All-American
running back. |
