Lutes Receive Votes in Division
III National Baseball Poll
The 2007 Pacific Lutheran baseball team has set high standards
for itself, and it already has achieved something that no
other PLU baseball team has accomplished – it has
received votes in a preseason national baseball poll.
The Lutes are mentioned in the “others receiving
votes” category of the American Baseball Coaches Association
(ABCA) / Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball
Poll released today.
No other Northwest Conference team received votes in the
national coaches poll. Pacific Lutheran, which finished
fourth in the Northwest Conference last year, is led by
an experienced 10-player senior class, including 2006 NWC
Pitcher of the Year Joe DiPietro.
The Lutes open their 2007 season against Saint Martin’s
in Lacey at 1 p.m. Saturday. The game had been scheduled
to start at noon, but has been moved back because of weather
concerns. The two teams square off at noon on Sunday on
the PLU field.
